I'm The Sat Nav, You're Driving

Those that have worked with me have probably already heard me say this -

"I'm just the sat nav, you're the one driving the car".

What do I mean by that?

Like a sat nav I have the knowledge to get you where you want to go. I can plan the best route, and make changes if you take a wrong turn from time to time. I will get you where you want to go, so you can be certain (before you even set off) that you will reach your destination provided that you drive the car.

Maybe the best route isn't the sort of journey that you will enjoy and stick to - not a problem, we can just change the route.

It's also my job to look out for potential problems just like a sat nav does - roadworks, traffic jams, accidents - and guide you around or through them.

There will be times when you need to have a break from driving, to refuel both yourself and your car. I can plan for these.

I really like the sat nav and driver analogy because it fits so well with my clients. It also sets up our working relationship.

As a Personal Trainer I am one of the most effective tools for weight loss, muscle building, overall well being or lifestyle change.

BUT - you wouldn't buy a hammer and expect it to hit the nails in for you.

Hiring a trainer doesn't stop the excess calories from adding weight to your body (you really can't out train a bad diet).

Hiring a trainer doesn't mean you can sit in the back seat of the car napping while I drive the car for you.

Hiring a trainer doesn't guarantee your success.

However,

If you do get in the car and turn the key you're on your way. You've started your journey.

If you pick up the hammer and bring it down hard onto the nail over and over - The nail will go into the wood (I'll even hold the nail so that you don't hit your fingers ;)

Thanks for reading,

Darren
